Stockport's Covered Market Hall is now finished. It was unveiled to the public on Saturday 29 November with a huge FREE Victorian themed Grand Opening event
to celebrate the occasion.
After an investment of £1.7 million from the Council and Heritage Lottery Fund, the restoration project will transform the historic Covered Market Hall back to it's former glory with the addition of the latest innovative features, including a flagstone floor with an under floor heating system, an open community space for events and an Heritage interpretation board and listening post. One side of the Hall has been opened up to provide new serving hatches to allow trading directly onto the street, with awnings above to shelter customers.
The Victorian Extravaganza event saw a huge array of entertainment in celebration of the renovation work and the Victorian Grade II listed building.
