Twin Town Celebrations
Stockport is twinned with Béziers in the South of France and Heilbronn in the south west of Germany.
2012 marks the 40th anniversary of twinning with Béziers and the 30th of twinning with Heilbronn.
2012 is set to be a very special year in the history of Stockport’s links with its two twin towns. Stockport will be marking 70 years of combined twinning which began in 1972 when the town formally twinned with Béziers in the Languedoc region of the south of France.
To mark the 10th anniversary of this relationship, Stockport twinned with Béziers’ twin town of Heilbronn in Baden Württenberg in the south west of Germany in 1982.
The plans to mark the 40th and 30th anniversaries include launching online sites, encouraging groups and individuals to share memories of their links and visits to towns, photographs and videos
