  • Stockport was granted Municipal Borough status in 1835 and a town council was elected. In 1974 (the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport was created).
  • Stockport Railway Viaduct is 111 feet / 33.85 metres high and has 27 arches and opened in 1842 - find out more about the Viaduct.
  • Halliday Hill House in Offerton is the medieval family seat of the Dodge family. Their illustrious association with America began when two brothers emigrated to New England.
