Calling all dog lovers to a dog show with a difference! Can your pooch compete with other canines to be crowned Stockport’s top dog? Categories include Dog with the Waggiest Tail, Dog with the Shiniest Coat and the one the Judge Most Wants to Take Home.
Suitable for dogs and handlers of all ages. Entrants will be charged £1.50 (Leisure Key £1). Advance entry forms are available from the Tourist Information Centre. On the day, entries can be registered from 11am.

Historic Street Market
Saturday 4 September
10am - 4pm
Market Place, Staircase House and Stockport Story Museum

Take a wander down the historic street market with stalls representing key dates from 1260 to the present day to form a timeline of Stockport Market’s history. Browse unusual stalls which will include haberdashery; candle maker; shoe maker; books; weights and measures; cheese and bread and Robinson’s beer, plus stalls depicting the Civil War, Crime and Punishment and the Second World War. Also, see strolling minstrels, rat catcher and through the lens of a Camera Obscura, see Stockport Market like you’ve never seen it before.

Step inside Staircase House and Stockport Story Museum and try your hand at pin hole photography, explore the historic textiles, re-create the 1260 Market Place with junk modelling or join in a story-telling session

Finale Weekend - St Wilfrid’s Medieval Fair

Stockport Market is resurrecting the centuries old tradition of St Wilfrid’s Fair. Be transported back to medieval times with wandering knights from the Plantagenet Society, jesters and a jaw dropping bed of nails show.

Enjoy a glimpse into medieval life. The day promises armoured knights, storytelling, musicians and dancers. Don’t miss the ferocious 14ft smoke-breathing dragon.  The fearless can try their hand at archery or train with a sword and axe. The day will end with a spectacular fire finale.

The Manchester Bach Choir Autumn Concert

St Mary's Church, Churchgate, Stockport  
Despite its name the Manchester Bach Choir now has its home in Stockport. Enjoy a special 750th anniversary concert conducted by Jim Cook. The Choir will be performing John Rutter’s Requiem and a selection of English songs through the ages.
Ticket prices for this concert will be reduced  in celebration of the Market 750 celebration to £5.00 for adults, £3.00  for concessions and £1 .00  for students
